Natural Indigo
All indigo fabrics shown here come from Guinea, West Africa where they are dyed in the natural traditional manner.
For care of true Indigo dyed fabric, please see the article at my weblog: http://africanfabriclady.com/2007/06/indigo-cloth-dye/
Purchased as 2 yard lengths of fabric, enough to make a wrap skirt or simple shirt, most lengths of indigo fabric are actually closer to 1 yard and 29inches of fabric--sortof like the 2 x 4 system of measurement. They are sold as full lengths only. Many of the lengths have a solid blue border at each cut end of the fabric, though occasionally the resist design, whether tied or wax resist, goes all the way to the cut edge.
